Study of Ice Age Bolsters Carbon and Warming Link

In the article "Study of Ice Age Bolsters Carbon and Warming Link" by Justin Gillis, a new analysis suggests that the last ice age might have ended because of a increase of carbon dioxide in the air. About 20,000 years ago, the world began to establish itself from the depths of the ice age. Around 800 years ago, Anarctica was beginning to warm up from the change in carbon dioxide. Most scientists know that the cause of an ice age is the variation of the Earth's orbit around the sun. But when an there is an addition of sunlight, this starts the end of an ice age which can flush the carbon dioxide out of the ocean and bring it into the air, causing a warming around the globe.
Starting 30 years ago, scientists have been taking samples of ice from Greenland Antarctica to study the climate records by testing the air bubbles inside the ice. But since some air bubbles could have been formed many years before that, scientists are havin trouble trying to find the temperature and when it the temperature happened. Also, Jeremy Shakun, a student at Harvard, says that the temperatures in Antarctica can not be represented for the whole world. But a tight relationship with the raising climates and carbon dioxide is enough for scientists to warn people about the damage that they could be doing by producing fossil fuels. Lastly, since the level of carbon dioxide in the air has jumped 41 percent at the start of the Industrial Revolution in the beginning of the 18th century, scientists fear that the amount of carbon dioxide could double or triple if people don't stop using all of the fossil fuels that we are using today.

Themes of Nature of Science:
1. Science is collaborative. This is a theme because over the years, many scientists have worked on this study and have started experiments to test this theory with other scientists.
2. Science is based on evidence. This is a theme because we need the evidence that the scientists got from the ice in Greenland or Antarctica to see how the climate has changed over the years.
3. Person's view and experience can influence data. This is a theme because scientists can have many opinions on this topic or any topic and the student at Harvards opinion clashed with a scientist mentioned in this article.
