New Carnivorous Dinosaur from Madagascar

A new species of dinosaur was discovered this month in Madagascar, the first in almost a decade. It is called   the Dahalokely tokana. It is thought to have been anywhere from 9-14 feet long and lived 90 million years ago. This fills a gap of time that had scientists wondering about. They hadn't discovered a dinosaur in Madagascar from between the 165 and 70 million year ago range until now. The bones were excavated in 2007 and 2010 in northeastern Madagascar. The scientists think that this dinosaur went extinct just before Madagascar and India split apart. They had hypothesized that these types of dinosaurs lived this long ago based on what they've found in the rocks, and these new findings of the dinosaur bones supports their hypothesis. This dinosaur is closely related to other famous dinosaurs in the southern continents. The scientists have many more places around the world to discover more mysterious dinosaur species in the future.
