Plant with oily leaves

Researchers from Michigan state have successfully engineered a plant will oily leaves. This could help with bio fuel production and feeds for animals. They used an algae gene involved in oil production to engineer a plant that stores lipids. They put the plant to the test feeding it to caterpillars. They gave it to some and other plants to other caterpillars and the ones that ate the oil rich plant were much fatter than the rest.

This shows that science is collaborative since several universities worked together
Role of credibility also takes place, they are college students, some people might not trust their info
It also shows that science is based on evidence, the caterpillar that ate the oil rich plant was fatter than the rest

  1. This is cool! I think that it is awesome when people make a new type of plant! this also happened with the honeycrisp apple.
