Galaxy Goes Green in Burning Fuel

Galaxy Goes Green in Burning Stellar Fuel

The new galaxy, SDSSJ1506+54, was found today using infrared data from WISE. The amazing thing about this galaxy this that is it is very efficient at converting gases into stars. In fact it works at a near 100 percent efficiency. This is due to the fact that all of the galaxies fuel it put into the center.  This would be groundbreaking as the  efficiency reported is close the maximum amount predicted for galaxies.

It is thought that they are observing a new stage of galactic evolution. It is called red starburst stage: it might have resulted when this galaxy collided with another one. After this stage has ended the galaxy would enter a stable elliptical galaxy stage where it would mature. It would also mature very quickly in tens of millions of years.

The galaxy is indicated by the pointer.
NOS themes:
  1. Science is collaborative several researcher from several universities had to collaborate
  2. Science is evidence based. They had to gather evidence from the WISE survey.
