The risk of breathing

Chinese Air Pollution

I made this article to show people now in Earth Week this week, to show that we should take better care of our planet because we can already start seeing the effects on us. In China the air is extremely polluted due to the big cities, and factories and this is something that should concern us, the pollution of the world.
The levels of pollutants are usually up to 40 times the limit of recommended exposure in Beijing and this is affecting children's health.
Chinese parents aren't letting their children go outside, or at least not without a mask because the air pollution is so incredibly bad that it is causing the children to have chronic breathing and sinuses problems, to the point of a four year old child having to have his sinuses cleared with saltwater through a machine every night.
Parents are pulling their children from school because of the air pollution and are choosing schools based on their air filtration systems. Schools are building giant futuristic domes in order to guarantee healthy breathing while the kids play sports.
People are very anxious about the Air pollution, many of the inhabitants of the city planning to leave the country for a safe-air place.
Studies have proven the fears of damage to children and fetuses. One study showed that children exposed to a lot of air pollution can suffer from permanent lung damage and another study showed a connection between autism in children and the exposure of pregnant women to air pollution.
China should strengthen their environmental laws, because children are being born with a lot more respiratory problems now, face masks are more of a rule now.
Play times and outdoor activities are being cancelled in many schools, because of the pollution.

  1. This is a very intriguing article. I cannot believe that pollution has gotten that bad in China. It only makes me think of how long will it take for this level to reach the United States or the entire world. Also, how bad will it have to get in our atmosphere before we finally realize that drastic measures have to be taken to save our planet.

  2. I found your article interesting because my grandparents live in Beijing. I agree that environmental laws should be strengthened, but I also think that existing ones should be more strictly enforced. This article makes me think that we should work on reducing pollution in other areas before it gets to be as severe as it is in China. I think this is especially true in the case of the Arctic. With the ice melting up near the arctic people and businesses will probably be moving up there and there will be more pollution. If we are not careful the Earth will end up like it is in the movie Wall-E!
