Scientists create phantom sensations in non-amputees

Hour 1

Scientists have done many experiments to find out if it was possible to create phantom sensations in non-amputated people. If one of the participants arms was hidden from their view behind a screen, while being asked to locate the other arm, they could not locate it, they would instead reach into mid air and locate an imaginary arm. In another case, with the same arm being hidden from the participant, was touched gently by a paintbrush, while the same motions were preformed in the air, they were to copy that same movement with the other hand as well. And the last experiment involves a knife, where stabbing motions were preformed in mid air in front of the participant, while their hand was hidden, their sweat response was much higher than where they could see their arm.
