Sunshine has health benefits
A study suggests that exposure to sunshine might help reduce high blood pressure and cute the risk of heart attack and stroke.
When out skin is exposed to sunlight a compound is released in our blood called Nitric which helps lower high blood pressure, the relationship between the body's production of Nitric acid and vitamin D is unrelated though.
For the experiment that led to these results, researchers had 24 volunteers sit under tanning lamps for two 20-minutes sessions in one session the volunteers were exposed to both the UV rays and the heat and in the other session the volunteers were only exposed to the heat because the UV rays were blocked off.
The results showed that after the session with the UV rays the volunteers blood pressure dropped significantly but during the session without the UV rays it didn't.
This shows that the UV rays from the sun help you have lower blood pressure which helps you greatly because this means a smaller chance of heart attacks or stroke which is a really great cause of death, 80 times more than that of skin cancer, which shows that being under the sun is more beneficial for you than harmful

This is really interesting. Who knew that sunshine might actually prolong life? It will be interesting to see where this study goes in the future.
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting to me because my mom always tells me to go outside and get some sun because it is good for your health. I never really believed her because we always learn about how too much sun exposure can give you skin cancer, but I guess she was right! This seems like it would suck for people who are albino though. Are they still able to sit in the sun? What would they do to get the same benefits from the sun as other people?
