Ancient Plants Reawaken

Catherine La Farge, researcher at the University of Alberta, has found ancient plants that have been dormant under polar glaciers from hundreds of years. These plants are known as bryophytes. She disproved the thought that these plants were dead. She used radiocarbon dating to determine that these plants were between 400 and 600 years old. Many were in pristine condition, while some even suggested regrowth. In her lab the plants succeeded in reproducing. This expands our knowledge of polar environments by showing their importance in reestablishment of plants in polar environments.

This article talks about the same exact plant and also backs up all of your information, it also has another test done where the plants successfully reproduce. "http://www.voanews.com/content/scientists-revive-long-dormant-plants/1669888.html"
